Okay, let's stop right here and take a second to look at this picture... Soak that shit in. WOW. Hello. Sorry guys, both these ladies are taken.

This shoot was seriously magical. Not a lot of my shoots have been at golden hour, but imma tell you right now... the majority of my sessions will now be at golden hour. You always hear the word "golden hour." What the heck is golden hour and why is it so amazing? This. This picture is why it is amazing.

Golden hour is about an hour to an hour and a half before the sun goes over the horizon. Skilled photographers are able to harness THE POWER OF THE SUN (that sounds so silly lol) and take advantage of it's wonderful glow. It creates a wonderful backlit image that has warm hues. Additionally, there are long shadows which add a whole other dimension to the photos as well.

Long shadows are something that need to be played skillfully. We don't want long and harsh nose shadows or eye shadows. Thats's a no in my book.

Unfortunately, we live in part of the world where the light varies significantly. In the summer, golden hour is like 10pm (several hours past my bedtime). And in the winter, golden hour is like 3pm. What a huge difference! It definitely presents a challenge when scheduling shoots. I have to think ahead sometimes two months in advance, and think, "okay, it's golden hour around 6 now, so golden hour will be about 4-5ish in a couple months."

And perhaps we have to reschedule because of weather! That also changes things. These are all things your photographer should take in to consideration when planning your session.

Like I said above, these ladies are taken. I mean... I can't right now!!! Wow, just wow.

This styled shoot was a blast. Not only are these two sister in laws, but they are best friends. And! They happen to be my close friends as well. We all got together and did a styled shoot for my portfolio and just to have fun. Neither of them had seen me work behind the camera before, and they said they felt way more comfortable than they thought they would be. They kept saying how great I was at directing them and telling them how to pose. That's what I wish for all my clients. My clients should relax and let me take care of all the hard stuff like posing.

As always, thank you for reading! I write these blogs to bring life to the session and tell the story behind the photos. I also love showing off my beautiful clients and giving them something to remember the session with.

This session was close to heart because my friends truly are supporting me and my business by going out of their comfort zone, getting dressed up, and letting me work my photography magic. Thank you, Hannah and Nicole. I love you!
